To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/14/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-11 Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below at a proficiency level equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service You must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify for this series as described below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Selective Placement Factor: Hands-on experience administrating Broadcom VMware and or RedHat OpenShift enterprise environments, including virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, performance and monitoring and troubleshooting. AND Specialized Experience GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: assisting with Tier III technical support activities, contributing to the management and implementation of virtual server back end hardware, and gaining experience with virtual storage area networks (vSAN), hypervisor operating systems, and virtualization technologies such as ESXi, HyperConverged systems, Broadcom VMware Enterprise, RedHat OpenShift, and Windows/Unix/Linux environments. Experience may also include participation in obtaining an industry leading professional certification. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: having obtained (or being in the process of obtaining) an industry leading professional certification in virtualization; possessing full Tier III technical expertise; and demonstrating a history of independently providing support, management, implementation, and optimization of virtual server back end hardware. Must possess advanced skill with virtual storage area networks (vSAN), server hypervisor operating systems, ESXi, HyperConverged systems, and enterprise virtualization platforms including Broadcom VMware Enterprise, RedHat OpenShift, and Windows/Unix/Linux virtualization.
