You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Civil Engineer In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications for NH-03: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading and/or directing teams through various phases of assigned engineering projects; reviewing engineering documents such as technical specifications, cost estimates, plans, and/or reports; and preparing designs and/or cost estimates for assigned civil works projects such as navigation locks, reservoir dams, and/or other related flood risk reduction infrastructure such as gravity drains, closure structures, or pump stations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the NH-03, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
