Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience:Must have adequate experience in preparing and serving nutritional foods for young children. Must have basic knowledge of food preparation principles and practical understanding of physical changes that occur during the processing and cooking of food. Must have ability to follow instructions, work safely, and do simple arithmetic. Must be able to follow USDA requirements. Must be willing to go through training required by the service regulation. Knowledge of operating and cleaning food service equipment and the ability to season food and decide when foods are done is required. Must have practical knowledge of methods and procedures necessary for ordering, issuing, and storing food items in accordance with inventory and sanitation requirements. Must be 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds with assistance. Must be able to obtain Food Handler's card and satisfactorily complete all pre-employment and investigative requirements.
