Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Examiner and Identifier tasks. I can: 1) Identify a wide variety of items by visual observation to determine the physical condition; 2) Use a computer terminal or other electronic device for handling inventories and information to record receipts, stockage, and issues; and 3) Operate a forklift to move materials or items from one location to another. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprints) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Work requires extensive standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weighing up to 40 pounds is required. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. During research of technical manuals or microfilm, extensive reading may cause eye strain. Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily inside a warehouse and occasionally in outside areas. Work area is cold, drafty, or hot. Subject to possible injury when lifting or moving materials.
